YOUTH OPPORTUNITY AWARDS – 2009.

 

The Youth Opportunity Award Scheme run by the Rotary Club of Horwich is designed to foster the development of individual talent for young people, under the age of 19, who live or attend school in Horwich or Blackrod.  The scheme is not means tested and is concerned solely with identifying and developing individual talent in all forms of activity, regardless of family circumstances. This year the scheme attracted a large number of quality applicants and we are pleased to make the following awards:-

Albany High School, Chorley:-        LAURA TAYLOR – Athletics.

 

Bolton School (Boys Division):-        DOMINIC WALKER – Modern Pentathlon.

                                                        OLIVER WALKER – Modern Pentathlon.

 

Bolton School (Girls Division):-       LYDIA WALKER – Modern Pentathlon.

 

Canon Slade High School:-  REBEKAH ATKINSON – Modern Pentathlon,   SAMUEL ATKINSON – Modern Pentathlon,  RACHAEL WHITEHEAD – Air Pistol Shooting.

 

Horwich Parish Primary School:-   BETHANY-MARIE ATKINSON – Modern Pentathlon..

 

St. Joseph’s High School:-  HOLLY ANDERTON – Singing,  TOM BROMILOW – Golf,  JESSICA CHADWICK – Swimming,  SABRINA FEDERICI – Tennis,  FAYE HORROCKS – Athletics, CHRISTIAN LAWLESS – Swimming,  BENJAMIN WHIPP – Javelin.

 

St. Michael’s High School, Chorley:-            PHOEBE HOWE – Athletics.

 

Rivington and Blackrod High School:-         LAUREN BANKS – Tennis,  JAMIE FOSTER – Athletics,  MARTHA GILL – Athletics,   SOPHIE LEIGH – Modern Triathlon,  BECKY TRAVERS – Violin. GABRIELLE WHITTLE – Athletics. RACHEL WILSON – Hockey.

 

Rivington Park School:-  EMILY RUAUX – Fencing.

 

A total of £2400.00 has been allocated under this scheme to help these talented young people with their future development. This money has been raised by members of the Rotary Club of Horwich, during the current Rotary Year.  The Rotary Club of Horwich wishes to thank the people of Horwich and Blackrod for their generosity and feel that this scheme is an excellent way of investing in the talent of our young people.

The club meets every Thursday

1st. 2nd.4th. & 5th.

at 12-00 for 12-30 p.m.

3rd. Thursday

 6-30 for 7-00 p.m.
